After two weeks away all eyes return to the Premier League today as Liverpool look to extend their lead at the top to seven points as they travel to Brighton & Albion.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have had a rough 2019 so far after suffering their first league defeat of the season against title rivals Manchester City 9 days ago, they then crashed out of the F.A. Cup at the first attempt to Wolverhampton Wolves earlier this week.
After resting a host of key personal for the cup, Klopp is expected to name his strongest side possible as they look to get their season back on track. One of which is expected to be the Premier Leagues player of the month for December Virgil van Dijk (pictured) who will return at Centre back, although who he will partner is still undecided.
With Croatian defender Dejan Lovern out with a hamstring issue and Joe Gomez also side lined Klopp may be forced to use Fabinho as a makeshift defender once again.
Another two players who will definitely not be making the team sheet for today’s game is Joel Matip who has only this week returned to training following fractured Collar bone and midfield maestro Jordan Henderson who is receiving treatment for a calf issue.
For the hosts they will definitely be without Bernardo who has not recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered against West Ham in the new year. He will be joining trio Mat Ryan, Jose Izquierdo and Alireza Jahanbakhsh on the treatment table.
A third successive defeat for the visitors would be devastating to their title ambitions and although Brighton boss Chris Hughton has described Liverpool as;
“They will be big favourites, as everybody would imagine, and it will be us doing as well as we can on the day.
His side has proven they can match it with the top teams at home with good results against Manchester United and Arsenal, so with a good start and a massive effort Brighton could take something away from todays game.
