United and Chelsea look to secure top spot!

Over the next two nights the last 16 of this season Champions League will be decided as all the final group games are played, with several teams already assured of their place, there are still some still to be confirmed.

Last years Europa Cup Winners Manchester United need only a point against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford to ensure they go through as group A winners. Paul Pogba will start one more game before he starts a 3-game domestic ban for his red card at the weekend, While Luke Shaw is also expected to earn a recall as United boss Jose Mourinho has one eye on this weekend’s Manchester Derby game.
Midfielder Nemanja Matic is a confirmed nonstarter due to injury while Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be rested alongside David De Gea who is replaced by Sergio Romero.

Another Premier league team already confirmed in the draw for the next round is reigning Premier League champions Chelsea, who could still take top spot in their group with a Victory over last season’s Champions League Semi-finalists Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as already confirmed defender David Luiz will take no part in the game after failing to over come an ongoing knee injury, denying the defender absence was due to a ‘break down’ in their relationship after Luiz publicly criticised the managers tactics during their group defeat against Roma.
However, there could be a recall to the starting line up for forward Michy Batshuayi who sat out their win over Newcastle at the weekend as a non-playing sub.

The final british team in action tonight see’s Scottish Champions Celtic welcome Anderlecht to Glasgow as they look to secure a place in the Europa League in the new year. Having already failed to secure a top two group finish and place in the final 16 of the Champions League all teams that finish third will be entered into the knock out stages of the Europa Cup. Having already beat the Belgians earlier in the competition anything less than a three-goal defeat will see them through.
