Tuesday’s Premier League PREVIEW part 1

With all the interest in the FA cup over the weekend, tonight everyone’s attentions return to the Premier League action with some important games being played.

The big fixture of the night is at Anfield, where, league leaders Chelsea take on a wounded Liverpool team that are ten points behind in 4th place and suffering from being dumped out of both the ELC Cup and the F.A. Cup in the last week. Liverpool will be boosted on the possible return of Sadio Mane, who has missed the last few weeks on African Cup duty, while there could also be a place for Adam Lallana, who has been cleared after injury. For the league leaders Chelsea, they have the opportunity to pick from a full squad, although, as its transfer dead line day, rumours are surrounding possible moves that could lead to coach Antionio Conte making some late decisions regarding the team.

Looking to keep up the pressure on leaders Chelsea, Tottenham will be travelling to bottom placed Sunderland, with Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld all included in the squad. For the home team they could see the return of Dider Ndong and Lamine Kone from African Cup duty, although they will be missing Papy Djilobodji through suspension, and new boys Oviedo and Gibson, who joined the club too late to be eligible for tonight’s game.

In another game that features one of the teams chasing Chelsea at the top, second placed Arsenal take on Watford at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners should have Saturday’s F.A. cup hero Theo Walcott playing his first league game of 2017, after he scored a hat trick in his return from injury at the weekend. This will mean that Danny Welbeck will probably start on the bench, while Granit Xhaka is still suspended. Watford will definitely be without suspended duo Jose Holebas and Mauro Zarate, while keeper Costel Pantilimon is doubtful due to injury. There may be a place for new boy M’Baye Niang now his loan deal has been completed.
