Wigan maintain FA Cup voodoo over Manchester City

With the return of Champions League football this week, top of Serie A Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis has already stirred the pot, stating his team should rest some players for their game against Manchester City at the Ethiad Stadium tonight, instead concentrating on their weekends game against Inter Milan. The Italian’s are currently two points clear at the top of Serie A, although have struggled in their opening games in Europe and are currently joint third with Shakhtar in their group.

For City who are currently top of group F, in excellent goal scoring form and yet to concede a goal in Europe this year, they could have Argentinian forward Sergio Aguero back after 3 weeks out with a broken rib he suffered in a car crash although there is still no place for club captain Vincent Kompany who is still struggling with a calf injury.

Possible the biggest game of the round see’s Tottenham Hotspurs travel to the Bernabeu to face defending European champions Real Madrid in group H. For the home side former Spurs player Gareth Bale, will not play against his former club after failing to recover from the calf injury that kept the Welsh skipper out of the recent World Cup qualifiers, but Keeper Keylor Navas may return after recovering from a thigh injury.

For Spurs, England Midfielder is still suspended, but there could be a return for defender Danny Rose, who has been missing with a knee injury since January and is likely to start on the bench tonight.
With Real only above Spurs on points difference with both teams winning their first two games, they face each other twice in the space of two weeks, with the Spanish Giants travelling to Wembley on November 1st.

Following on from their goal less draw with Manchester United at the weekend, Liverpool have travelled to Slovenia to take on NK Maribor in their third game of group E.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as stated he will retain his policy of rotating his keepers with German goalie Loris Karius replacing Simon Mignolet in what could be the only change to the side as they look for their first win after drawing their first two games.
