Tonight, see’s the final two quarter finals for the Carabro Cup as Chelsea welcome AFC Bournemouth to Stamford bridge and Manchester United face a tricky trip to championship side Bristol City.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to name a raft of changes to his team as he looks to keep his squad as fresh as possible ahead of the festive schedule. There is a third start of the season for Brazilian midfielder Kenedy who was sensational sent home from Chelsea’s summer tour of China for comments he made on Social Media.
The 21-year-old is expected to replace the suspended Marcos Alonso and could be joined by Michy Batshuayi, Dujon Sterling, Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi as Conte rotates his squad.
Bournemouth come into the game on the back of a heavy defeat by Liverpool at the weekend and boss Eddie Howe as also suggested he might make some changes, some of which will be forced as Daniels and King both picked up injuries at the weekend and will miss tonight’s game.
In the other Quarter Final Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is hoping his side can continue their form in this cup competition after already dispatching premier league teams Crystal Palace and Stoke City and would need to pull off a repeat of their 1994 shock 1-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool as they welcome the current holders Manchester United to Ashton Gate.
As with the other Premier league teams United manager Jose Mourinho is expected to rotate his squad and could recall Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan who has hasn’t even made the bench for eight of United’s last 9 games. Also looking at a possible recall is Star midfielder Paul Pogba who has served his 3 game suspension for his red card against Arsenal earlier this month and my use the game to get some much needed minutes under his belt!
