Another name also confirmed today is that od Australian Prop Forward Andrew Fifita who was originally chosen for the defending champions and Cup favourites Australia, before contacting Head Coach Mal Meninga to officially withdraw his name.

Other stars that have nailed their colours to the Tongan team are Roosters Prop forward Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Parramatta forward Manu Ma’u and New Zealand Warriors duo of Solomone Kata and David Fusitu’a who were all expected to be named in the New Zealand squad.

These join they likes of Konrad Hurrell, Will Hopoate, Sam Moa, Sika Manu, Micheal Jennings, Daniel Tupou and Manu Vatuvei who all have multiple caps for either New Zealand or Australia.
