Saturdays European Challenge Cup Review

In Pool Five, leaders Harlequins will be without injured fly half Nick Evans, who has been replaced by Tim Swiel for the visit of Edinburgh. They have also recalled props Dan Murphy and Owen Evans to the starting line-up. For Edinburgh, Scottish International WP Nel returns from injury in the front row, with Hamish Watson coming into the back row. In the three quarters there are starts for Phil Burleigh and Tom Brown at centre and wing respectively.

After last week’s demolition of Worcester, Gloucester make two changes as they travel to The Stadio Comunale di Monigo to take on Italian team Benetton Treviso. They welcome back John Aloa at tight head prop in place of Salesi Ma’afu, and Tom Marshall drops out for the returning James Hook at fullback. Also returning from injury, Hooker Darren Dawidiuk is named on the bench.

Worcester are also on their travels this week, and cross The Channel to play French Club Brive at the Stade Amedee-Domenech. Currently bottom of the group, and after suffering a thrashing by Gloucester last weekend, Worcester will be looking to increase their slight hopes of qualification against the group leaders. Worcester boss Carl Hogg hands a debut to USA International Joe Taufete’e, who starts at hooker, while they welcome back Perry Humphreys on the wing, and Luke Baldwin is named at scrum half. In the pack, Marco Mama and Matt Cox are named in the backrow. Brive have also rotated their squad, with the inclusion of Australian Flanker Poutasi Luafutu’s return from injury the most notable.
