New signing Alexis Sanchez has been named in Manchester United’s squad for tonight’s fourth round FA Cup game against Yeovil Town. If selected the Chilean international will make his debut for his new side after signing earlier this week in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction to Arsenal.
After his sides shock defeat to Bristol City in the Carabro Cup, United boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will play what he considers a ‘very strong team’ against the league two side to ensure there is no repeat of their Carabao cup exit!
With that in mind, the United boss has confirmed Sergio Romero will keep his place in Mourinho’s cup side and is likely to replace David De Gea in the Red Devils goal, while striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Eric Bailly are definitely out with Knee and ankle injuries respectively. Another player who won’t take any part in the game is young Axel Tuanzebe who joined Aston Villa on loan yesterday (thurs).
For the home side, who are currently sat in 21st place in league one and the lowest ranked team remaining in this years FA Cup, they will be without star midfielder Otis Khan who is starting a five match ban. The former Manchester United youngster was found guilty of pushing referee Kevin Johnson during their league one game with Chester field last weekend. There could be a return for the versatile 21-year-old Antigua and Barbuda international forward Rhys Browne who has recovered from an ankle injury, but Omar Sowunmi may miss the game after suffering dizzy spells over the past few days.
The game will also be United’s first since manager Jose Mourinho signed a contract extension that will take him through to 2020, with the option of a further year. Should he complete this contact it will be the longest Mourinho has ever stayed at one club during his coaching career.
