The rugby League round about continues to spin as the July 1st deadline approaches, clubs are committing their star players before other clubs are allowed to talk to any off-contract players.
Castleford Tigers have announced that Zak Hardaker has joined them permanently on a 4 ½ year contract for a fee of £150,000. The current England international was on loan to the Tigers after Hardaker returned from his spell with NRL club Penrith last season.
Staying with Leeds, they have announced the signing of ex England, Salford and Warrington half back Richie Myler on a 3-year deal. The 27-year-old has been living in the South of France for the past two years whilst playing for Catalan Dragons, were he has scored 10 tries in 19 appearances this season.
St Helens have announced the re-signing of England full back Jonny Lomax on a two-year contract. Lomax has 4 caps for England in last year’s 4 nations along with 147 appearances for the saints over the past 8 years, scoring a total of 468 points, however he has had several major injury layoffs and it is believed that the contract is performance based, with the club having the option of the 2nd year.
Over at Salford they have announced that Australian Half back Robert Lui has signed an extension that will keep him at the club long term. The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils from Queensland Cowboys at the start of 2016 and has since become a fans favorite and has been a major part of the team’s success story over the past two seasons.
Salford have also awarded 23-year-old academy product Niall Evalds with a new deal that sees him stay with the club for at least another two years. The winger / fullback found 1st team chances hard at the start of the season, but since getting the nod he has gone on to become the clubs leading try scorer this season with 11.
