Newcaston Falcons vs Bath Review

In the first of this week’s Aviva Premiership games, fourth placed Bath travel to Kingston Park to take on eighth placed Newcastle Falcons and, with both teams having lost their last two games, they are looking to pick up valuable points. Newcastle have some injury concerns but have flanker Will Welch named as captain and replacing the side-lined Ally Hogg, alongside Dominic Waldouck who comes in at outside centre, with Belisaro Agulla moving to the wing to replace Marcus Watson, who has a hamstring injury. Canadian international, Evan Olmstead, also returns to partner Calum Green in the second row.

Bath will be looking to keep up the pressure on third place Exeter and have promoted England international Anthony Watson to fullback after he made a successful return from injury last weekend. It will be his first start since early October, when he broke his jaw in a training ground accident whilst with the England squad. Darren Allinson will start at scrum half to partner captain George Ford and, after impressing last week, Semesa Rokoduguni keeps his starting spot on the wing. In the pack, Bath have a new 2nd row partnership of Elliot Stooke and Welsh international Luke Charteris, while Robbie Fruean and Jack Walker could make their 1st team debuts coming off the bench.
