Leeds Rhino’s boss Brian McDermott will have back rower Stevie Ward available for tonight’s first of their two games being played at Elland Round, home of their footballing neighbours Leeds United FC.
Ward has been named in the squad after recovering from shoulder surgery during the off season that saw the young forward withdraw from the England World cup squad at the end of last season.
He replaces Prop forward Nathaniel Peteru who suffered a suspected Bicep tear and now faces a race against time to be fit for the World Club Challenge.
Also included in the squad is full back Ashton Golding and prop Matt Garbutt who have both recovered from their hip and quad injuries respectively that saw them miss out on last weeks opening day win over Warrington.
Rovers coach Tim Sheens has named the same squad, which means a quick return to his old stomping grounds for Hull KR scrum half Danny McGuire, who left Leeds Rhinos during the winter after winning the Harry Sunderland award and leading them to Grand final victory at Old Trafford, capping off an illustrious 15 year career with them.
Also named in the squad are Chris Atkin and Jordan Walne who will both be hoping for a chance to play after missing out on the final 17 last week.
