Tottenham Hotspurs hopes of making the Premier League top four as taken a massive blow with the news that they could be without top striker and England front man Harry Kane until April at the earliest.
The side that are currently in sixth place in the Premier league, six points behind fourth placed Chelsea broke the news that the fans didn’t want to hear. As the clubs leading goals scorer with 27 goals in 31 appearances for Club and country this season, Kane suffered the hamstring injury during his sides defeat at Southampton on New Years day and following further tests and examinations it has been revealed that Specialists have advised surgery is required.
As the clubs statement said;
“Following ongoing assessment by our medical staff over the past week, we can confirm that Harry Kane will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring,
Although there is no exact time scale to the injury it is believed he will return to training in early April meaning he should be fighting fit to lead England at the Euro 2020 finals only two month later.
Following on from the defeat by Southampton Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho spoke about the impact his loss would have on the side as he said;
“Everybody knows who he is, what he is, what he means for the team, the fans, the club.
“His quality, the routines that the team has playing with him, every minute of every game he doesn't play we miss, so every match that he doesn't play we're going to miss him.”
As well as missing all the league games and possible F.A Cup Run Kane will also miss the crucial Champions League last 16 knock out games against Germany’s RB Leipzig.
