With the 6 nations just around the corner, Ireland have named three uncapped Munster players in their squad for the opening games against Scotland and Italy.
Centre Rory Scannell is joined by his older brother Niall, who has been outstanding for Munster this year at hooker. Joining them is team mate Andrew Conway, who has been impressive on the wing this year. There is also a recall for Munster flanker Tommy O’Donnell after he sat out last year’s summer and autumn internationals, alongside Leinster back rower Jack Conan, who will be looking to add to his solitary cap in 2015.
In the rest of the squad, Jonny Sexton has been named and is expected to be fit for the first game against Scotland at Murrayfield on the 4th February.
Unfortunately, head coach Joe Schimdt wasn’t able to call on Leinster pair Sean Cronin and Joey Carbery, who along with Ulster’s three quarter Jared Payne, are unavailable due to injury.
