We will start with the news that Hull City have sacked Mike Phelan following their 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Monday. Phelan was only offered the position as a permanent manager in October, after taking over as caretaker coach over the summer. Swansea’s victory last night sent Hull to bottom, and they have only secured three points in their last 9 games, their last win being against Southampton at the beginning of November.
Ibrahimović named PFA Fans’ player of the month.
Manchester united Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been awarded the PFA FANS’ Premier League Player of the Month award for December. With over 24,000 more votes than the runners up, Liverpool’s Adam Lallana, and Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta. The Manchester United star, scored six goals in seven matches during December to help his club consolidate 6th position in the Premier League and keep them in touch with those at the top.
Defoe is a wanted man.
Sunderland have been reportedly asked to name their price for Striker Jermain Defoe, after West Ham had an offer of £6 million turned down. West Ham are desperate for some fire power up front, as injuries to Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll have restricted them to only 3 goals all season, leaving Midfielder Michail Antonio their top scorer with 8. Sunderland will be reluctant to allow Defoe, who is their top scorer to return to West Ham, where he scored 41 goals before joining Tottenham in 2014.
