Farrell and Itoje rested against the Pumas

England Rugby Union head coach Eddie Jones has decided to rest Lions pair Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje ahead of this weekend’s opening international against Argentina.
This means a recall for Exeter Chief’s Henry Slade who will partner Jonathan Joseph in the centres, while George Kruis will partner Courtney Lawes in the 2nd row.
Although Jones had hinted he would rest his contingent of British Lions tourists over the Autumn International period, he is not taking the 2015 world cup semi-finalists lightly and has still named no less than seven of this summer’s Lions squad that drew with the All Blacks in his starting fifth teen.
Elliot Daley has recovered from the injury that people believed would see him side lined for this match so will take his place on the wing with fellow lion’s tourist Anthony Watson on the other wing and Mike Brown at full back to complete a very strong back three. In the halves Ben Young and George Ford will resume their combination that has worked will in the past.
Dylan Hartley will again Captain the side at hooker with lion’s tourists Mako Vunipola and Dan Cole making up the front row, while Robshaw, Underhill will combine as flankers with Nathan Hughes at lock.
Tom Curry who was award the man of the match on his debut for England against the Pumas in the summer, heads up a strong bench that includes Joe Launchbury, Danny Care and Semesa Rokoduguni who could win his 3rd cap after 3 years in the international wilderness.

England XV: Mike Brown; Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Henry Slade, Elliot Daly; George Ford, Ben Youngs; Mako Vunipola, Dylan Hartley (capt), Dan Cole, Courtney Lawes, George Kruis, Chris Robshaw, Sam Underhill, Nathan Hughes

Replacements: Jamie George, Ellis Genge, Harry Williams, Joe Launchbury, Tom Curry, Danny Care, Alex Lozowski, Semesa Rokoduguni
