Immediately following the Champions League draw the next stage of the Europa League cup was also decided with the 24 Group winners and runners up, which included Arsenal being joined by the 8 third placed group teams from the Champions League qualifying groups which included the Scottish Champions Celtic.
During the draw Arsenal who were one of the seeded teams after topping their group were paired with Swedish side FK Ostersunds, who is currently managed by former Southampton defender Graham Potter, who has helped his side move up from the fourth division to the top flight over the past 6 years.
Celtic were given a harder route into the final 16 as they take on Zenit St Petersburg who are currently placed fourth in the Russian Premier League and under the guidance of former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini have hopes of repeating their success from a decade earlier when they defeated Rangers to lift the trophy that was then known as the Uefa Cup.
In some of the other intriguing match ups, Italian Side Atlanta who beat Everton twice on route to this stage will take on German giants Borussia Dortmund, Napoli will face another German side in RB Leipzig and former winners and last season’s Champions League Semi-finalists Atletico Madrid will travel to FC Copenhagen over their two legs.
The first league will be played on 15th February with the return fixture a week later the 22nd February.
