England Women name strong squad for upcoming Internations

England ready for New Zealand in the final

England’s Women team have announced their squad for the forthcoming Autumn Internationals with former World Cup winning skipper Katy Daley-Mclean eyeing up the possibility of earning her 100th cap.

The 32 year old who currently sits on 99 caps, made her international debut back in 2007 and went on to lift the World Cup trophy in 2014 when England defeated the New Zealand Ferns.
From that game in four years ago, only Daley-Mclean, Hooker Vicky Fleetwood, Flanker Marlie Packer, Centre Rachael Burford, Winger Lydia Thompson and current skipper Sarah Hunter remain in the 28 player strong squad. While head coach Simon Middleton has named Uncapped players Claudia Macdonald, Tatyana Heard, Carys Williams, Lucy Attwood, Ellie Mulhearn, Sarah Beckett and Ellena Perry.

With the RFU announcing they will be handing out full time contracts to 28 players in the new year, the squad in a strong indication of who would be in line to take up the offer, however with Bristol Bears trio Sarah Bern, Lagi Tuima and Amber reed all side lined and Wasps hooker Amy Cokayne unavailable due to her Royal air force commitments every player named will be looking to prove their worth during the games against the USA, Canada and Ireland.
