England’s Ladies team kept up their 100% record in their World Cup qualifying group with a 5-0 demolition of Kazakhstan, which included a second half goal blitz which produced 4 goals in a 12 minute spell.
With Karen Carney and Demi stokes both pulling out of the squad through injury over the past few days, Interim Coach Mo Marley gave Manchester City’s Keria Walsh her International debut, while Mel Lawley got her first start at this level.
In a game that England dominated from the start all they could muster was a single goal from Lawley after 15 minutes meaning they went in 1-0 at the break and that’s how it stayed until midway through the second half when Marley made a double substitution, bringing on the experienced pair of Izzy Christiansen and Chelsea‘s Fran Kirby.
Within a minute of walking on the pitch, Kirby had doubled the lead from the penalty spot with her first touch before playing a major part in England’s third only minutes later, this time providing the pass for Nikita Parris to score.
Five minutes later it was Parris again who made it 4-0, this time catching out Kazakhstan’s offside trap to beat the keeper and straight from the restart England regarded procession and it was again Fran Kirby who provided the assist, this time for fellow Substitute Christiansen who tapped home England’s fifth and final goal with 15 minutes remaining.
The result see’s the girl’s only a point behind group leaders Wales, although England have a game in hand and a far superior goal difference as they have registered an incredible 15 goals and conceded none so far.
It was also the final game in charge for Mo Marley as the Interim coach, although the former u19’s boss has applied for the permanent position and will be interviewed next week.
