Betfred Super League Team the Castleford Tigers, who are looking to go one better than Grand Final runner up next season have already started their recruitment with the addition of former Tigers half back Jamie Ellis on a three year deal from Huddersfield Giants.
The 28-year-old left Tigers in 2014 after three seasons at the Mend A hose Jungle, before moving on to Huddersfield Giants were he spent two years before being loan out for the 2017 season to Championship side Hull KR, helping them return to the super league at the first chance.
Earlier in his career, Ellis had spells with St Helens, Hull FC and Leigh Centurions before his first stint at the Tigers
Ellis who can play either Scrum Half, stand off or Hooker will add depth to the sqaud while also providing cover for the Tigers inspirational trio of 2017 Man of Steel Luke Gale, Samoan International Ben Roberts and Paul McShane.
On the announcement, Super Leagues Coach of the year Daryl Powell said: “I'm delighted to add Jamie Ellis to our squad for next season.
“He left the club a few years ago and I wanted to retain him then. His game has matured significantly since his last time at Castleford and I am confident he will be outstanding for us alongside Luke Gale and give us a great combination at half-back. “He has many attributes to his game. His passing ability and running games alongside a very long kicking ability will add to our armory for 2018.”
Elsewhere Catalan Dragons have announced that former New Zealand International Louis Anderson has signed a one-year extension to remind with the French club for next season, while 20-year-old prop forward Lambert Belmas who is currently in Australia with the French national squad has agreed a two-year deal that will keep him in the south of France.
