A week after ending St Helen’s unbeaten start to the season, Catalan Dragons coach Steve McNamara has made a host of changes to his winning side as they welcome Hull FC to the Stade Gilbert Brutus with the return of Papua New Guinea skipper David Mead (pictured) and French International Ben Garcia.
The pair have been side lined since the opening rounds of the season and are expected to slot straight into the match day 17 with Mead coning into the centres and Garcia likely to be used of the bench. Also earning a recall after missing last weeks win is former New Zealand international and Ex Hull favourite Sam Moa, while the duo that miss out are former England International half back Matty Smith (bicep) and young centre Arthur Romano.
This means McNamara will change his winning formula with Sam Tomkins having a new half back partner with Samisoni Langi favourite to move into stand off with mead taking his place in the three quarters.
Speaking before the game McNamara said,
“We've a bit of moving around to do but we've got plenty of options, Mead and Garcia have been missing for a long period of time and they are two very influential players for us.”
The visitors have some welcome news themselves as England International Jake Connor has been named in Lee Radford’s travelling squad after missing Hull’s last five games. The utility back is the only change to his squad that beat Salford last weekend and will add some much-needed options to the Arlie birds as they continue to struggle with injuries.
As Radford explained;
“We've had eight senior players missing, it's part and parcel of the game, we're not in a position to worry about opposition teams and what they've got or not got. They're a good team and getting Jake Connor back is a huge boost for them.”
