Liverpool survive an early goal to make Champions League Semi's

4th placed Liverpool look to take their winning form into 2018 has they face a tricky trip to Burnley this afternoon, but could be without leading goal scorer Mohamed Salah, who limped off after scoring both their second half goals in their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday.

It could still be to early for Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno who could be saved for Fridays F.A. Cup clash with derby rivals Everton, while it is also a day early for new signing Virgil van Dijk who cannot be officially registered as a Liverpool player until tomorrow.

One change that has been confirmed is the return of Simon Mignolet into the Liverpool goal as boss Jurgen Klopp continues to rotate his keepers.

The home side who have had a mixed few weeks after being hammered by Liverpool, before conceding in the final minutes at Old Trafford to deny them a memorable victory and then playing their part in a goal draw with Huddersfield to sit 7th in the table have defender James Tarkowski back from a three match suspension.

Burnley Manager Sean Dyche must decide if Tarowski should go straight into the starting line-up or start on the bench due to the recent form of Kevin Long and Ben Mee at the heart of Burnley’s defence.

There is still no sign of long term absentees Robbie Brady and Tom Heaton, while both could be joined by defender Stephen Ward and Striker Chris Wood who are both rated as doubtful for todays game.
