News from the England six nations camp suggests that scrum half Ben Youngs will miss the rest of the tournament following his early departure during the Italy game.The Leicester player was substituted due to a knee injury during the first half of Sundays 46-15 win over Italy in Rome and further investigation as revealed the 28 year old has ruptured a Medial Collateral Ligament and know faces up to four months on the side lines.
With Danny Care the only other specialist scrum half in the current squad, this means that 34 year old Saracens Scrum half Richard Wigglesworth has been called up to the squad with immediate effect as his replacement. The veteran of 27 England caps returns to the England set up after 3 years in the wilderness having last played test rugby in 2015.
Some good news on the Injury front ahead of Englands second 6 nations game against Wales at Twickenham this weekend is that Wasps number 8 Nathan Hughes has also been added to the squad after missing England’s trip to Rome with a knee Injury, that has kept him side lined since December.
Although Saturdays game may be to earlier he will be assessed by the England medical staff over the coming week to see if or when he is likely to be available for selection. England Coach Eddie Jones has also included one new face in his squad, with Exeter Chiefs prop forward Luke Cowan Dickie joining his team mate and fellow front rower Alec Hepburn in the squad.
