Its that time of the year when people are all looking to who will be the BBC Sports Personality of the Year! As always due to the nature of English Sport and the talent we have within our shores the list is full off some of the Worlds top athletes from various disciplines.
This year’s list includes sports such as Speed skating, tennis, football, motorcycling and Taekwondo.

First up is Elise Christie who this year became a triple world Champion Speed Skater, taking the 1000m and 1500m titles along with a bronze in the 3000m final.

Sir Mo Farah is a house hold name in this country and has been a regular on this list over the past 10 years, with his highest finish being 3rd in 2011. In the year he officially retired from track athletics, he stormed to his third consecutive 10,000m world gold , but could only manage silver in the 5,000m meaning he missed out on a unbelievable fifth major championship distance double. To top the year off he was received a knighthood last month.

Chris Froome claimed his fourth Tour de France in 2017 and became the first Briton top win the Spanish equivalent the Vuelta a Espana making him only the third every rider to win the Tour-Vuelta double in the same year. On the track he took bronze in both individual and team time trails during this year’s World Championships.

Up next is 32-year-old Formula one driver Lewis Hamilton who claimed his fourth world title this year, making him Britain’s most successful driver taking him one clear of Sir Jackie Stewart and placing in joint third on the all time list.
This also isn’t his first appearance on the Sports personality awards list having twice been runner up in 2007 and 2008 before taking the title in 2014.
