Arsenal add another win, while Swansea future now in the hands of Hull City

Walcott joins Everton for £20m

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Arsenal kept up the pressure on the top four with an easy win over Stoke City at the bet365 stadium. After a poor opening 40 mins, French men Oliver Giroud (42) opened the scoring shortly before the break to give the Gunners a deserved 1-0 lead. Mesut Ozil (55) doubled their lead before Peter Couch controversially brought his team back into the game, after he converted Marko Arnautovic’s cross with what looked like his hand!!!

Stokes hopes of pinching a point were short lived as the Gunners scored two goals in a matter of minutes from Shanchez (76) and Giroud (80) to take Arsenal level on points with Liverpool, but with a better goal difference as the race for European football goes down to the final weekend of the season.

At the other end of the table, Swansea City did their survival hopes a world of good, with a 2-0 victory over already relegated Sunderland. Swansea opened the scoring early with Llorente (9) headed in a Gylfi Sigurdsson free kick, which seemed to settle the Swansea player’s nerves as they began to open up in attack. The game was effectively over in first half stoppage time when full back Naughton (45+2) picked an excellent time to score his first for the club with a superb effort into the top corner.

The Victory meant that Swansea opened a 4-point gap between themselves and Hull City in the final relegation place. With Hull, due to play Crystal Palace on Sunday, anything short of 3 points would see the Tigers playing Championship football next season and Swansea fans celebrating the great escape.
